Eng. Leo Linus Ooko Onganyo Champions Youth in Engineering at ACEK Annual Presidents Dinner.

NAIROBI, Kenya – June 26, 2026 – Civil Engineer and Chairman of the National Youth Council of Kenya, Eng. Leo Linus Ooko Onganyo, popularly known as Eng. Leo, was among the notable youth leaders who attended the Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK) Annual Presidents Dinner held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at PrideInn Azure, Nairobi.
The high-profile event, which ran from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., brought together engineering professionals, government agencies, development partners, and private sector stakeholders, including the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), Atlas Copco, and NaMATA.
Eng. Leo's participation highlighted the growing role of young professionals in shaping Kenya's engineering and infrastructure agenda. As Chairman of the National Youth Council of Kenya, he continues to champion increased youth participation in STEM, mentorship in civil engineering, and meaningful policy inclusion for young professionals.
The evening's programme featured opening remarks by ACEK Future Leaders Chair Elvis Alwala, a welcome address by Functions and Conference Committee Chair Eng. Yolanda Muyonga, a keynote speech by ACEK President Eng. Gabriel Jabongo, and networking sessions with industry leaders and development partners.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Eng. Leo underscored the importance of empowering the next generation of engineers.
"We must create pathways for youth to lead in engineering projects, not just participate. The future of Kenya's built environment depends on it."
With ACEK strengthening its commitment to nurturing emerging professionals through its Future Leaders initiative, Eng. Leo's presence signaled growing collaboration between youth leadership structures and professional engineering bodies in advancing innovation, sustainable infrastructure, and inclusive national developments.
